Bertrand graduated with first-class honours from the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia, and has been working in Singapore for 9 years. He spent 6 years working at one of the largest public hospitals in Singapore, where he gained experience with a wide array of complex cases, within different rehabilitation settings. He specialised in post-operative knee, hip, ankle and shoulder cases, with a particular focus on returning patients to sporting activities.
Having played competitive rugby since the age of 13, Bertrand combines his love for sport, personal injury experiences and professional knowledge in order to help patients achieve their physiotherapy goals. He has been involved with the Singapore National Rugby team since 2014 as a physiotherapist, first working with age group teams before moving up to the Men’s and Women’s National Rugby sevens squads. He was privileged to be appointed as team physiotherapist for the 2017 South East Asian (SEA) games in Kuala Lumpur for Men’s
sevens rugby. He is currently the team physiotherapist to the National Women’s 7s rugby team, and travels extensively with them for competitions and training. Bertrand also works closely with MMA and Brazilian Jiujitsu athletes, and enjoys the challenge of ensuring rehabilitation exercises are applicable to specific grappling contexts.
Having experienced first-hand the debilitating effects of concussion in contact sport, he is now also a fully-certified concussion management physiotherapist through CCMI™️ and imPACT™️. He is currently the only imPACT™️-certified physiotherapist in Singapore. Bertrand utilizes a top-down bottom-up approach when assessing and treating patients, and is passionate about delivering quality, holistic and evidence-based care to all. He adopts a data-centric approach with an emphasis on objective testing. He has particular interests in the treatment of ACL knee injuries, as well as foot injuries. He has certified competencies in exercise prescription, manual therapy, dry needling, Kinetic Link Training, Anatomy Trains™️ and Functional Range Conditioning™️.
In his spare time, Bertrand enjoys various sporting pursuits such as tennis, running, cycling and Brazilian Jiujitsu.
