What is Pilates?
Pilates is a physical fitness system developed by Joseph Pilates. Pilates exercises help to develop strength, flexibility and coordination while improving body alignment, awareness and balance. Pilates can benefit people of any age, fitness level or condition. Pilates focuses on strengthening the deepest layers of the abdominal wall and other stabilizing muscles, to form a muscular corset to generate power for all functional movements.
Mat work vs Reformer – Which is best for you?
Mat work and Reformer Pilates use the same core suite of movements. While Mat work uses your body weight to create resistance, the Reformer can increase resistance to build strength or decrease resistance to support early stage rehabilitation.
